Roscommon Lamb Festival 2017 is offering a unique opportunity for local emerging artists and designers to exhibit their work at the Festival over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The Exhibition, which is being hosted at Aras an Chontae (Roscommon County Counchil HQ) will be officially opened on Friday April 28th by Roscommon native and multi-award winning designer Úna Burke. Úna is a luxury Leather Accessories Designer and Artist whose work has been worn by Lady Gaga, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Cindy Crawford among others. Using traditional leather-working techniques in her distinctly complex constructions,The Art pieces are figurative in form and are developed on a commission basis for private art collections, public exhibitions and museum archives. Her clients and collaborators include Phillip Lim, Seoul’s Simone Handbag Museum, The National Museum of Ireland and and Nick Knights creative laboratory ‘SHOWstudio’.
While studying for her Masters in Fashion Artefact at the prestigious Cordwainers College at the London College of Fashion, Úna’s graduate collection won the 2009 Design Award for Best Static Collection. She set up her eponymous fashion label shortly afterwards and went on to win several more national and international awards, including ‘Irish Designer of the Year’ and nomination for WGSN’s Global Fashion Awards in New York. Úna‘s work has been exhibited in over twenty countries throughout Europe, Asia, USA and the Middle East.
The Exhibition will open from 7pm – 9pm on Friday April 28th and from 10am to 7pm on Saturday April 29th.
