Local cyclist Daire Feeley, who now rides with U.C. Monaco has taken his first podium finish in last Saturday’s Grand Prix Rhone-Alpes Sud.
A third place finish was the result of making the breakaway group of 10 over a tough 146km course. The mountainous terrain soon whittled the group down to four who had a sprint finish to decide the podium places.
The young Roscommon cyclist has continued to improve since his arrival in Monaco and has amassed an improving list of results over the last number of weeks. His podium follows a ninth place finish the previous weekend. Having adapted quickly to the more testing terrain and French style of racing Daire can only improve further as the season progresses.
His results have ensured his selection for the Irish U23 Team which will compete at the top level Gent Wevelgem Nations Cup next weekend in Belgium where he will be part of a six man team.
