Western Gaels Membership Reminder
As our games begin again for the coming year it is extremely important that all players are fully registered before they play for any team this year. Membership fees were set at the AGM back in Dec 2016 and cost the following:
Family = €100
Adult single = €50
Senior Players (over 18) Ladies & Men = €100
Please ensure you have your membership paid before playing any games so as you are covered under the GAA player injury insurance scheme.

Annual Lotto Renewals
Our Annual Lotto sales drive is upon us again as all tickets are due for renewal at the end of March so your local Lotto rep will be calling over the coming weeks to seek your continued support of our club Lotto. As always there are lots of payment options from Cash/Cheque/Direct Debit through our online paypal function on our website. There will also be a draw in the 1st week in April for all renewed members for 5 Cash prizes of €100 so you have a chance of getting your money back straight away.
Underage Coaching Mornings:
The underage coaching mornings for boys and girls for U6/U8/U10’s will return on Saturday week 18th March at 10.30am in Frenchpark. All kids are welcome to attend for what is a great morning’s action and it starts at 10.30am and finishes at 11.45am
Ladies Football:
Adult Ladies Team:
The Kilrane O’Callaghan & Co sponsored adult ladies team travelled to Kilglass Gaels on Sunday last to play the home side in the re-fixed round 2 of the Division one league. The girls put in a really impressive performance and came away with the points on a final scoreline of Western Gaels 6-13 Kilglass Gaels 0-08.
U-16 Ladies Team:
The U-16 ladies played St. Croan’s on Sunday evening last in Enfield in round 2 of the championship. Scores were hard got in the first half and St. Croans held the lead at the break 1-03 to 0-2. This all changed in the second half a good third quarter by Western Gaels saw them take the lead, despite a good come back by St. Croan’s and with just two points between the sides going into the final five minutes, Western Gaels upped it again to finish strong. Final score western Gaels 5-08 St. Croan’s 4-04. The girls play Eire Og on Friday morning in Frenchpark at 11:00 and they travel to Strokestown on Sunday evening to play Strokestown.
Men’s Football

Men’s Football
Senior Team:
The Devine and Co Chartered accountants sponsored senior team continued their winning opening to the Div 1 league with a good win against St.Brigids in Kiltoom on Friday night last. Final scoreline: Western Gaels 1-15 St.Brigids 1-10.
Intermediate Team
The Intermediate team faced Michael Glaveys in R2 of the Div 2 league on Sunday morning last in Frenchpark. Playing against a stiff wind in the opening half Western Gaels put in a solid defensive display to hold Glaveys to a slender 2 pt lead at ht 1-02 to 0-03 despite 2 penalties been missed, 1 from each side. In the 2nd half Western Gaels got back on level terms early in the 2nd half and pulled 2 pts ahead entering the last 8 minutes but to their credit Glaveys kept battling away and an injury time free from the Galvey’s goalkepper levelled the scores on a final scoreline of Western Gaels 0-10 Michael Glaveys 1-07.
U-16 Team
The Michael Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored U-16 team play Kilbride next Sunday at 11:00 in Kilbride.
