Congratulations

We begin this week by offering massive congratulations to a number of Roscommon girls who featured heavily at the weekend in the third level all Ireland finals played in Ballyhaunis. First of all in the prestigious O Conner cup final Joanne Cregg of Michael Glaveys starred on the winning University Limerick team as the defeated UCC of Cork and Kilbride’s Rochelle Mullaney was on the winning GMIT college team that won the Lagan Cup, indeed Rochelle was named player of the match as well. Finally Rebecca Finan of Eire Og was also victorious in the Giles cup with DCU2. Well done to all.

Adult Club Results

One fixture left outstanding from round two of the Hannon’s Hotel Division 1 league took place last weekend when St Brigids travelled to Strokestown and lost out to the home side on a score line of 5-12 to 3-9. Also played at the weekend was a re-arranged round two Division 1 fixture between Western Gaels and Kilglass Gaels which saw the Frenchpark outfit win out on a score line of 6-13 to 0-8.

Underage competition continues

Last weekend also saw the start of our first underage championship when the MCL Agri Supplies & Spar Shop Lanesboro sponsored U16 season finally began after the first round was all but rained off the previous weekend. Thankfully games did get to take place last weekend and the following are the results to hand:

Our Intermediate ladies return to national league action next Saturday when the take on neighbours Leitrim at 2pm in a venue yet to be announced. Please watch local press and social media for details. The girls hope to continue to recent good form by collecting a valuable three points. Best of luck to the management and the girls.

Easter Camps:

Roscommon Ladies Football board are delighted to announce that in conjunction with Roscommon GAA will be running an Easter camp for both boys and girls at various venues across the county on the 12th, 13th 14th and 18th, 19th, 20th April for boys and girls aged 6 to 14. Star players from the men’s and the ladies county teams will be in attendance along with some of the top coaches. Clubs are asked to forward names of coaches who maybe interested in helping out with the camps by forwarding an email to the county secretary. More details will be published in the weeks ahead but in the meantime keep an eye on social media for announcements.

Underage Update:

Training for all county underage teams continues on a regular basis as each squad builds up to their respective championships.
Our U14’s take part in the annual Connacht blitz next Sunday at 10am against teams from Galway, Leitrim and Sligo. This is always a great dress rehearsal for the upcoming Connacht championship. Best of luck to the management and the squad.

Fixtures for all inter county teams are now unloaded on the Connacht LGFA and our new Roscommon LGFA website. I will also make them available hear over the next couple of weeks. Just to note the U14’s and the Minors will begin their campaign on 31st March with away fixtures to Leitrim with u16’s not beginning till the 17th April away to Galway.
