Our Senior Footballers play Kilmore in Kilmore on Sunday next at 2pm in the O’Rourke cup, come along and show your support.

Camogie for U8/U10/U12 girls takes place indoors in the convent gym on Friday evenings. U8’s train from 6 to 6.40pm. U10’s train from 6.40 to 7.30pm and U12’s train from 7.30 to 8.30pm. Sessions cost €2 to cover rent of the gym. All players need a hurley and a helmet and these can be purchased at a lower cost through our club. Talk to any of our coaches at training.

As part of the promotional campaign for the club finals the Camogie Association held a Road to Croker Challenge, Roscommon Gaels were lucky to be one of the clubs chosen to participate in this, we were due to travel to Kildare and play our hosts Rathcoffey Camogie club before travelling to enjoy the Club Finals. Unfortunately the weather gods didn’t shine on us and due to pitch unavailability we were unable to play the challenge game. We continued with our plans to attend the club finals. A great day was had by all. Training continues for these girls, with the first round of the championship on Saturday 11th March.

25 Card games

Continue in the Hyde on Monday evenings at 8.30pm. All Welcome.

Roscommon Gaels American Tea Party

We are holding an American Tea Party in the Abbey Hotel on Thursday March 16th (leading into the bank holiday weekend). This promises to be an exciting & entertaining event, bringing together all our club members and non-members, with entertainment on the night from a top-rated comedian.
We need this to be a big success and all proceeds contributing directly to the dressing rooms development. We are calling on members to host or co-host a table at the American Tea Party – 10 per table, food & light refreshments provided by the host and/or table “guests”, €20 per person. Tea/Coffee and cutlery provided by Abbey Hotel (more details later). Some auction items on the night. The Host or Co-Host will sell their table places. Please contact any club executive member or any coach if can host a table on the night or maybe you and another will host a table together. Targeting to finalise host list by Monday March 6th.

Pictured below are Emily Horan, Ella Killion, Mia Fallon & Amy McNeill with Paudie Butler. More pictures will be on our Facebook page.

Coaches to assist with U8 Football

As a club we are in the enviable position of having >50 children registered to play U8 Football for the coming season.
To ensure that we make this an enjoyable experience and optimum learning environment for all the children, we are asking club members if you can support the U8 Management Group by helping out at some of the Training Sessions over the season.
Outdoor sessions will start end March / start April.
Please contact Declan Hussey 086 8177696.

The Club is aware there may be club members involved with teams (not necessarily in a coaching capacity or not having completed a Foundation Course) that would like to attend a Child Protection in Sport Awareness Course and so we can arrange to have the course run in-house.
The minimum number required to run the class is 15, so if you are interested please let Patricia Killion or John Donnellan know by 16th March.
If there is a Club Member that would like to train to become a qualified tutor in delivering Child Protection courses, can you please contact Maura Allen, Tricia Torpey or John Donnellan.

A meeting for all club children officers will take place in Hannon’s Hotel Roscommon Town on Monday night March 13th at 7pm, a Tutor from Croke Park will deliver the workshop and all in attendance will receive a certificate on the night. The cost of the workshop is 5 Euro per person, further information can be got from Oliver Donagher at [email protected]

La Na gClubanna

In 2017, the GAA plans to celebrate the importance of your club in your community. Lá na gClubanna will take place on 6/7th May. This is an opportunity for the GAA to highlight the important role of members, players, supporters’ and families in our Association and for the local community to have fun. We would encourage every member to mark this special day of celebration by participating at events in their club in recognition of the vital role that our clubs and members play at the heart of the GAA. Further information and a toolkit to help clubs organise Lá na gClubanna events will follow.
