The Strokestown Park House Estate could be the second venue in County Roscommon to host a weekly parkrun if their plans get support at an upcoming meeting.
A public meeting will be held in their Cafe on Tuesday February 28th at 7pm to garner interest in hosting the weekly 5 kilometre event throughout the grounds of the estate.
parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. A very successful run has been held at Lough Key Forest Park every Saturday at 9:30am since May 2016 with hundreds attending regularly.
The events are open to everyone the events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings. The organisers encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; everyone is welcome.
Anyone wishing to take part in a run must first register online at www.parkrun.ie/register/ . Participants will receive a downloadable barcode which must printed off and taken to the event. They will also receive an email with results / placings from the event.
