St Dominics GAA Club is gearing up to take the dancing world by storm as it launches St Dominics Strictly this Friday, February 17th, in Murray’s Bar Knockcroghery at 9pm.
The GAA club field teams in all codes, Hurling, Football, Camogie and Ladies Football. Based in a parish noted for its great sense of local spirit, the proud Knockcroghery based outfit affords its members a wonderful sense of pride and belonging. With a membership presently at 600 and growing, the club is endeavouring to develop their facilities in Gailey so that it can adequately cater for its needs well into the future. All proceeds from this popular fundraising format will go towards this development. Of course St. Dominic’s are well known for their huge tradition in the GAA’s cultural wing, Scór, so what better club to put on a dancing show than the mighty ‘Doms’!
28 hard working volunteers have generously agreed to hit the floor and under the guidance of Ms. Trisha McDermot of the McDermot School of Ballet, they will aspire to be transformed into the dancing stars of the show! Hailing from Knockcroghery, St. Johns and Rahara parish and further afield, all the dancers represent the true nature of community spirit and the club. This two night dancing extravaganza will take place this coming Easter Weekend in the Hodson Bay Hotel on April 15th and 16th. Tickets are available from John Corcoran’s Menswear, the Hodson Bay Hotel and from St Dominics Strictly Committee members and dancers.
You are in invited to Murray’s Bar Knockcroghery this coming Friday to meet the dancers and join in the festivities. On the night the dancing couples will be revealed not only to the public, but to each other! Follow Naomh Dominic on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with all the action.
