GAA

The Roscommon Senior Footballers proved too strong for NUI Galway. Check out our Match Report and interview with Conor Devaney here.

Roscommon had a number of players in O’Byrne Cup action over the weekend
– Henry Walsh scored 1-4, (1-0 pen, 0-3fs, 0-1 45) for Maynooth University in their defeat to Westmeath.
– Enda Smith scored a point for DCU in their win over UCD who featured Niall McInerney and a substitute appearance from Sean Mullooly.
– Thomas Corcoran was on the DIT side which defeated Wexford.

The County Under 21 Footballers were defeated by Longford in Hastings Cup on Friday night.

St Dominics Leiriu Group were the only local winners at the Connacht Scór na nÓg Finals in Claremorris.

Soccer

Boyle Celtic qualified for the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup after defeating Ballina Town 4-1 on penalties after the game ended 3-3. Mick Corrigan, Aaron Calpin and Luka Roddy were the scorers in normal time.

Ladies Gaelic Football

Rugby

A mixed weekend saw a comfortable win for Connacht in the Champions Cup but Roscommon’s Denis Buckley left the field injured after 25 minutes.

Jack Carty was today named as the Connacht Rugby Player of the Month for December.

There were defeats for the Connacht Eagles and the Carrick RFC Under 16s.
