Michael Fitzmaurice TD has called for action on local flooding issues following commencement of the nex Dáil term in the coming days.
Commenting earlier Michael Fitzmaurice TD said “With the new Dail term starting this week it is imperative that the problems that arose last year at Ardmullen, Lough Funshinagh, Athleague, Castleplunkett, Bushfield and Boyle to mention just a few areas are resolved once and for all. There can be no excuses this year as it has been agreed at long last that dredging and clearance work needs to be done on the River Shannon which is a step forward. But the funding mechanism must be put in place now to ensure that all the projects that have been agreed are done. I will be working hard on this issue from this week in the Dáil because people cannot be living in fear of more flooding that may put them out of their homes or that destroys their land, their property or their sheds” he added.
