Our slim hopes of winning the Division 1 title are over when were beaten 3-2 by a better Dysart side on Saturday night.

We were under pressure from the off and Cormac Costello had to make a couple of good save’s in the Cloonfad goal. Bobby Douglas had our best chance in the first half but he scuffed his effort. On 43 mins Dysart took the lead following a swift counter attack. Early in the 2nd half Sean Kearney missed a wonderful chance to bring us level. However we did equalise on 57 mins when Douglas was fouled in the box and Conor Freely scored the resulting penalty. Soon after Cloonfad were awarded another penalty for handball but this time Freely blasted high and wide. This proved to be the turning point as Dysart scored twice in the next ten minutes to go 3-1 up. Kieran Kiely pulled one back late on but we had no time left to chase an equaliser. The gap to 3rd place Lough Harps is now just 6 points which makes next Saturday night’s Kiltullagh derby very interesting.

Elsewhere, the B team played well away to Castlerea B despite losing 2-0.
