Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten is recovering in Hospital after being hit by a Car while cycling earlier.

The incident occurred on the R 366 Castlecoote – Roscommon town Road when Denis Naughten, his wife Mary and a family friend were cycling towards Fuerty.
Minister Naughten’s bike was clipped from behind by a Car. He is believed to have suffered back injuries after being thrown from the bike. The other members of the group were unharmed.

He was transferred by Ambulance to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe. His injuries are not thought to be serious.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
