Gaelic Games
Ciarain Murtagh scored 2-3 and Enda Smith scored a point as Connacht suffered a narrow 3-10 to 2-16 defeat to Ulster in an exciting Inter-Provincial Football Final in Carrick on Shannon yesterday.
Niall Daly, Kevin Higgins, Fintan Cregg also stated with John McManus (53) and Diarmuid Murtagh (57) introduced as second half subs.
A depleted Roscommon Senior Football team suffered a 2-16 to 4-17 defeat to Meath in their first “Christmas Cracker”. Scorers: Conor Devaney 1-3 (1 Pen), Diarmuid Murtagh 0-6 (5 F), Andy Glennon 1-0, Niall Kilroy 0-2, Donie Smith 0-2, Ultan Harney (1F), Shane Killoran and Brian Murtagh 0-1 each.

Clann na nGael came from four points down to defeat St Brigids by 1-13 to 1-12 in the Dermot Hughes Cars U20 A Football Championship Final.

Soccer
The Roscommon and District Football League Team qualified for the knock out stages of the Oscar Traynor Cup the first time since 2012 team following a 1–1 draw away to holders Clare on this afternoon (Sunday).

Rugby
Connacht defeated
Kiltoom’s Jack Carty kicked the game winning conversion as Connacht defeated Wasps 20-18. He contributed 10 points overall; two Penalties and two Conversions. Denis Buckley also played.
Castlerea’s Clare Raftery kicked three Conversions and a Penalty as the Connacht Women defeated Ulster 39-12. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to claim the title but they finished as runners-up to Leinster, with two wins out of three.
A youthful Connacht Eagles sided captained by Danny Qualter and featuring Luke Carty and Cian Romaine, whose mother hails from Ballyforan, suffered a 14-55 defeat away to Ospreys Select in the British and Irish Cup.
Boxing
Elphin Boxing Club held a very successful Tournament on Saturday, featuring Boxers from Elphin, Frenchpark, Castlerea, Lanesboro, Ballynacargy and Dromahair.
Canicross
Round two of the Canicross Ireland National an Provincial Championships took place in Lough Key Forest Park this afternoon. Canicross combines Cross Country Running and Dog Walking. The Dog is harnessed and connected to it’s owner via a two metre bungee cord.
