Senior Football:
U20 Championship Semi-Final: St Dominics 0-13 St. Brigids 2-9.
St Dominics gave another outstanding performance in this year’s Championship but on this occasion came up just short against a very fancied Kiltoom outfit by a two point margin. Many in the good attendance felt that St Dominics should have been awarded a last minute penalty but it was not to be. Every player and the Management can be proud of their performances in this year’s Championship.

St Dominics started the better and led by three points after seven minutes but against the run of play St. Brigids were awarded a penalty which levelled matters. They added a point two minutes later but Eoin McCormack restored the lead for St. Dominics with two well taken points and Brendan O’Meara added another in the 15th minute. The sides exchanged a brace of points before the break with St Dominics points coming from goalkeeper Conor Fallon from a 45 and a Tommy Hurley free to leave it 0-8 to 1-3 at the break.

Michael Tracey added a further point for St Dominics but St. Brigids scored their second goal a minute later to level matters again. Every ball was now keenly contested but St Dominics had the upper hand and another converted 45 from Conor Fallon and a Tommy Hurley point opened up a two point gap with 13 minutes remaining. St. Brigids then hit a purple patch and scored five points in a ten minute spell to lead by three but another 45 from Conor Fallon and a Derek Doyle free left the minimum between the sides going into injury time. The drama was not over, a St. Brigids point in the 61st minute was followed by a final St Dominics attack when it appeared to most spectators that a St Dominics forward was upended in the penalty area but play was waved on and so St Dominics exited the Championship having given every last ounce of energy.
