Exiles Cup Silver Jubilee
The traditional St. Stephen’s Day fixture at the club celebrates a landmark anniversary this year when the Exiles Cup match will be played for the 25th year. To mark its Silver Jubilee a serious effort is being made to have more players, both past and present, participate this year in the annual game between the Buccaneers President’s XV and an Exiles Selection. At stake will be the coveted James Moran Exiles Perpetual Cup and, of course, bragging rights by the victors for another year. Here’s hoping there will be a big turnout of players and spectators in Dubarry Park for this special occasion. Catherine Fulvio & Lip Sync Battle
For those of you who already getting organised for 2017, the club is hosting two events early in the New Year which you may wish to note and support. First up will be a cookery demonstration with popular TV Chef Catherine Fulvio. This takes place in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone, on Friday, January 27th. Ms. Fulvio is renowned for her cookery TV series’ and food writing including many cookbooks. RTE1 is currently showing her “Tastes Like Home” series and Catherine was also one of the presenters on the very successful “Lords and Ladles” recently. At home she runs Ballyknocken House & Cookery School in Co. Wicklow. Tickets for this event by the very pleasant and charming Catherine could make an ideal Christmas gift!
Then the following month Buccaneers RFC is staging their version of ‘Lip Sync Battle’ in the Athlone Sheraton Hotel. This should prove a hugely entertaining occasion that should be a great fun night out on Friday, February 17th. Watch this column for further info on ‘Lip Sync Battle’ in the near future.

5k Run On New Year’s Day
Buccaneers U-17s are hosting a 5k Run on New Year’s Day. Starting at 12 noon from The Bounty, this will give you the opportunity to clear the cobwebs from over-indulgence during the holiday period. You can run, walk, race or even crawl if you wish! This event proved popular last year and entry fee is €10 per Individual or €20 for Family.
Condolences
