Roscommon County Council have confirmed that two sections of the N61 Boyle to Roscommon Road will be officially re-opened next Tuesday, December 13th following nine months of re-alignment works.
The N61 Boyle – Roscommon upgrade has cost an estimated €7 Million. Work was originally due to begin last November however a delay at the contract signing stage meant enabling works only began in March of this year. The re-alignment works have involved the construction of two 1.1km stretches of road at Treanagry and Rathallen.
Senator Maura Hopkins has said that she is delighted that the road is re-opening. “This section of road has been closed since March which has resulted in inconvenience for motorists however it’s planned re-opening next Tuesday is very positive. This road improvement scheme undertaken by Roscommon County Council seeks to improve safety for motorists and the local community and I am happy that funding was secured to complete these works”.
