“Shopping local this Christmas will keep Jobs local”- Cllr Domnick Connolly

Independent Councillor Domnick Connolly has appealed to people to shop local this Christmas season and support local jobs.

Domnick Connolly “People should shop local at all times but especially this Christmas. Faraway hills always look green, but there is great value to be had locally and most importantly local jobs will be kept local if people spend their money in their own towns and villages. People should keep in mind that the shopkeepers in Enniskillen and Newry will not support any local organisations here in Roscommon and they will not give any part time jobs to Roscommon students during the summer months. So once again I am appealing for people to shop local and make it a happy Christmas for the local economy” he concluded.

Elderly

Councillor Connolly also took the opportunity to encourage people to check on their elderly neighbours and those living alone during the winter months. “I am calling on people to check on their elderly neighbours and people living alone to ensure that they have enough fuel for heat during the cold weather and enough food as well. It is easy to forget that some people may not find it easy to leave their homes to get fuel or food when the weather is very cold. It will not take too long to make that call and it might provide relief to someone who may need it, especially at this time of the year”.
