A fire occurred within the sub-station compound of the Sliabh Bawn Wind Farm in the early hours of this morning.
A member of the Sliabh Bawn Wind Farm on-site security team immediately raised the alarm and units from Strokestown, Lanesboro and Roscommon Fire Service attended the site and extinguished the fire.
In a statement Sliabh Bawn Power DAC confirmed that there were no injuries to any persons and no consequential damage to either the main sub-station, adjoining construction compound, the Wind Farm, or the adjoining forestry. They also thanked the Fire Services for their quick response and work over the course of the night. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is now underway.
