The victim of Sunday night’s single car crash near Brideswell has been named as Declan Downey from Kiltoom.

Mr Downey, who was a Private in the Defence Forces, died when the Car he was driving left the road and overturned at Cam Hill between Dysart and Brideswell. A male passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe.

Declan Downey was predeceased by his father Harry. He is survived by his mother Sadie, son Adam, sister Caroline, girlfriend Nathalie, Caroline’s partner Alan, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, relatives, neighbours, military colleagues and friends.

His Funeral arrangements are as follows:

Reposing at St Brigid’s Funeral Home, Brideswell on Wednesday evening from 6pm with removal at 8pm to St Brigid’s Church, Curraghboy. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday at 12 noon, burial afterwards in Cam Cemetery.
