Positive news on the injury front for Connacht Rugby

Ahead of Friday’s Guinness PRO12 round 9 game at home to Cardiff Blues, the Connacht Rugby medical team have announced that seven players have returned to full training.

Tom McCartney, Ronan Loughney, Sean O’Brien, Nepia Fox Matamua, John Cooney, Matt Healy and Roscommon’s Denis Buckley are all back in action and will be monitored closely ahead of team selection. Fridays game is scheduled to Kick off at 7:35pm.

In related news, both Shane O’Leary and Rory Molony sustained concussions recently and are following the graduated return-to-play protocols.

Eoin Griffin (chest) sustained an injury in a club game two weeks ago and is continuing his rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical and fitness team. Eoghan Masterson (knee) is progressing well in his rehabilitation and is due to be available for selection towards end of December.

The long term absentees are looking at New Year returns; Josh Rowland (ankle) and Ivan Soroka (foot) are due to return to play in January. Andrew Browne (ankle) has undergone surgery and is due to return to play in February as is Darragh Leader continues his recovery from surgery on his hand injury.

It was also announced this morning that Kiltoom’s Jack Carty, pictured above, was named the Hartmans of Galway Connacht Rugby Player of the Month for October.
