Portumna man Johnny Kelly is set to be ratified as Roscommon Hurling Manager, succeeding fellow Galway native Justin Campbell.
The incoming Roscommon Hurling Manager is best known for leading his native Club to two All-Ireland Club titles from three Final appearances. He has also previously managed the Galway Under 21 and Intermediate sides, helping the Intermediates to an All-Ireland title in 2015 and led Coolderry to an Offaly Senior Hurling title in 2015.
Speaking after the announcement PRO of the Roscommon hurling committee Robert McConn said “We wish Johnny the very best of luck with our County Senior Team and look forward to a successful season ahead”.
Details of Kelly’s Selectors or Backroom team have not yet been announced.
Justin Campbell stepped down as Roscommon Manager in August and left an impressive legacy. He led Roscommon to Nicky Rackard Cup, Allianz League Division 3A and Connacht Intermediate titles as well as a number of finals. He also led the Under 21s to the All-Ireland B Final.
