It was Kilglas Gaels who took the early initiative and led by three points to no score after the opening 11 minutes. Dermot Washington got the opener followed by two from Pierce Bolger; the Man of the Match in the drawn game. The 15 minutes that followed only produced three points and they were all scored by the men in maroon. Paul Brandon got the first in the 12th minute, Enda Conneran ten minutes later and Enda O’Rourke got the equaliser in the 26th minute. Shane Dowd put Creggs into the lead in the 29th minute and they added another point two minutes later to lead by 0-5 to 0-3 at the interval.
The beginning of the second half was dominated by Creggs. Man of the Match Shane Dowd scored 1-2 in a seven minute spell as they raced into a 1-9 to 0-4 lead. Surprisingly it was to be Creggs’ last score for 16 minutes. Kilglass Gaels scored three without reply during this time but it proved to be too little, too late. Both sides added late points and it ended Creggs 1-10 Kilglass Gaels 0-8.
