Castlerea win Westward Scania Mid Western Girls Soccer League U12 League
Congratulations to Castlerea Celtic Tigers who captured the Westward Scania U12 League title following a thrilling finish to the season. Trailing league leaders Strokestown United entering the last game they defeated the league leaders 4-2 with goals from Amy Doory, Abi Flanagan, Lyanu Wilson & Lily Vickers. This left both sides level at the top of the table so a play-off was required to separate them and Castlerea came out on top thanks to Lyanu Wilson’s strike. Well done to all the players & coaches and also to the Stroketown players on management on their great season.
Connacht Blitz
Mid Western Girls Soccer League sides Kilkerrin United & Castlerea Celtic both took part in the U12 Connacht Blitz on Saturday. Kilkerrin lost out 1-0 to both Manulla & Salthill Devon and despite a fine 2-0 win over Gaels United they were unable to qualify from their group. Castlerea Celtic also performed well.
FAI Under 14 Cup
Kilkerrin United advanced to the second round of the FAI U14 Cup following a penalty shoot out win over Swinford.
