Minor Ladies win Championship

Huge congratulations to our Minor team who were crowned Co Minor Division 2 champions on Sunday morning in rain soaked Tarmonbarry . The win concludes an amazing year for the ladies club and one which will live long in the memory of everyone in the parish . Conditions were difficult for both sets of players but Kilbride stormed into a commanding lead in the opening quarter courtesy of well taken goals from our deadly forwards Fiona Tully and Casey Keane and for a while it looked like the St.Marys were in real trouble as they trailed by 10 points with almost 20 minutes played . But to their credit they managed to get themselves back into contention and reduced the gap to 6 at the half way mark. They continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and Kilbride seemed to lose their shape for a while . Within minutes they had levelled affairs and Kilbride looked like they might be in trouble . Thankfully they managed to regroup and put some nice passages of play together aswell as some marvellous defending in the backline and by the mid way stage Kilbride were back in the lead by 6 points . Kilbride dominated for the remainder of the game and finished on a scoreline of 5-09 to 2-09. Once again our loyal band of supporters were there to cheer on the team and there were great scenes of jubilation once again as Johnny Cox presented the cup to joint captains Caoimhe Neary and Fiona Tully.

The club would like to thank the teams sponsors Jonathan Farrell Carpentry Services , Ronan Gavigan Morris Meats and Donal Farrell Tiling for their generous support .
