The closing date for nominations for the Roscommon Volunteering Information Service Awards has been extended to this Sunday.

Roscommon Volunteering Service was established by Roscommon Leader Partnership in 2014. The aim of the Service is to increase the numbers volunteering in the County and promote volunteering as a rewarding and fulfilling activity and also to support volunteer involving organisations. Membership of the Volunteering Steering Committee is broadly based and includes representation from volunteer led organisations, community groups and agencies. Their goal is to make sure that everyone who wants to volunteer, can volunteer. Their vision is of every person feeling connected to and participating in their communities to build a better Irish society. Their mission is to promote the value of volunteering and increase the range and quality of volunteering in Ireland.

There are four awards up for grabs in the Roscommon Volunteering Information Service Awards namely, Youth; Older Person; Group or Organisation and finally Volunteer of the Year. Nominations must be submitted via the official application form. Forms and details of the criteria are available from Bridie on 094 9862565 or [email protected] . Individuals / groups cannot nominate themselves.

The Awards will be presented by Minister Denis Naughten at a Ceremony on December 2nd in Áras an Chontae; the Roscommon County Council Headquarters.
