Roscommon County Council Arts Office is delighted to announce the Roscommon Visual Artists Forum Award 2017.

The Roscommon Visual Artists Forum, supported by the Roscommon County Council Arts Office, was established to provide visual artists based in or from the county with a platform to develop their practice through professional training, events, talks and exhibitions while also providing access to information and opportunities from beyond the region. The Award is in response to the needs and requirements of the artists in the county.

Applications are invited from artists, groups or collectives with a connection to County Roscommon to realise a project/exhibition in the Roscommon Arts Centre gallery in Spring/Summer 2017.

The selected artist will be supported with a production budget of €2,000 plus the organisational and curatorial support of the Roscommon Arts Centre. Applicants must also demonstrate that the project can be realised within the specified budget and timeframe.

Submissions

The proposals will be assessed by an independent panel including the current curator in residence Linda Shevlin who will work with the selected artist to assist with realising their exhibition.

Artists can apply by sending a project description (up to 500 words), a curriculum vitae (no more than 2 A4 pages), an estimated budget, and up to 10 images and/or links to audio/visual works. Applicants must also state their connection to County Roscommon i.e. with it be by birth or residence etc.

All materials must be submitted via WeTransfer (www.wetransfer.com) and emailed to [email protected]. The total application submission should not exceed 10MB.

Budgets

Roscommon Arts Centre has a range of AV equipment that can be used at no cost, but the hire and procurement of additional equipment must be factored into proposal budgets (please email us for an equipment list).

The total budget of €2,000 includes artists fee and production budget. Any additional costs relating to the production of the work are the responsibility of the artist. In exceptional cases, assistance with acquiring additional, external funding may be provided.

Proposals can involve the exterior of the building, but with the following considerations:
– any alteration to the building must be temporary and be removed after the period of exhibition.
– proposals should not obstruct any public areas and abide by health and safety restrictions.
