August 28th Stableford
What’s rare is wonderful! Kevin O’Rourke with 42 points won the Stableford competition played on Sunday 28th August. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to prise the Cecil Ewing shirt from Curran. Runner-up with 40 points Shane Crowe. Tommy Mulvey won the Gross and Benny Boyle was third.
Carrick Golf Club Annual Golf Classic
The Club annual golf classic takes place on Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of September. This is our major fundraiser of the year and all Members are encouraged to organise a team with golf friends from other clubs. Entry is €160 for team of 4. Book online or by calling the Club.
Inter Club
On Monday 29th August we played Enniscrone in round two of Connacht Shield with 3 matches at home we had a comprehensive victory winning 4-1. On Monday last (September 12th) they were defeated by Tubbercurry.
On Saturday last September 10th we played Greystones in the All-Ireland 4Ball (aka The Cecil Ewing) in Castlebar. Unfortunately we lost out on the odd game in 5 losing 3-2. Greystones played Slievenamon in the Final on Sunday last, 11th September only to have result reversed; Slievenamon winning 3.5 – 1.5. So they are the inaugural All-Ireland 4Ball winners.
Well done to our lads on their Connacht success and hard luck last Saturday it could have gone either way. Declan Loftus & John Moffatt won their match 1up as did Kevin Ward & Colm Griffin, James Connors & Padraig MacShera were beaten 2 down Gerry McDermott & Kieran Oates lost 3/2 and Paddy Duffy & Michael Keville lost 2 down.
