Strokestown Show takes place this weekend

National Famine Walk Listed Buildings in Roscommon Jim Callery Roscommon Strokestown Show Strokestown Park House parkrun

The 150th Annual Strokestown Show takes place this Saturday and Sunday in the grounds of Strokestown Park House.

Saturday’s highlights include the €5,000 All-Ireland Nutrias Animal Feeds Beef Bullock Championship, the €2,000 Greenvale Animal Feeds All-Ireland Beef Heifer Championship and the €10,000 Irish Angus All-Ireland Finals.

Sunday features the Horse & Pony Show Classes, Driving Competitions and Dog Show. It is also Family Day and there are prizes for Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed Gent, Glamorous Granny, Little Miss, Little Mister and Bonny Baby. The Best Dressed Lady Competition which is being judged by the one and only Marietta Doran.

This year see’s the introduction of “Flavours from the Heart of Ireland” – the new food and drinks fair which will form part of Strokestown Show. There will be a vast array of artisan producers who will be hosting stands, tastings, competitions and lots more. The event will feature cookery demonstrations from well know Chefs. From 12pm on Saturday Neil Reid (The Great Irish Bake Off), Vinny Meldrum (The Great Irish Bake Off) and Gary O’ Hanlon (TV3’S The Restaurant) take to the stage. From 1pm on Sunday local Chef Kenny Sheridan and Neven Maguire (RTE) will be in action.

The showgrounds will be open from 8am tomorrow (Saturday) with exhibits to be in place no later than 10am. Judging commences at 11am sharp. Admission to the show is €10.
