Recently retired Roscommon Senior Footballer Michael Finneran is, subject to the approval of Clubs, set to be the next Manager of the Roscommon Ladies Football Team.
The Management Committee of the Roscommon Ladies Football Board met recently and agreed to recommend his appointment to the Clubs for ratification at next week’s County Board meeting.
The Roscommon Ladies Football Board have acted fast following the resignation of John Benton three weeks ago. Following a series of interviews they agreed on the St Dominics club man.
In a statement released this evening the Roscommon Ladies Board thanked John Benton and his management team for all their hard work and dedication during 2016.
Although lacking top level Managerial experience Michael Finneran played at the highest level with Roscommon from 2005 to 2015 and will draw on those experiences for his new role. He won a Connacht Senior title, two Allianz Football League titles and an a FBD League title during that time. Finneran is currently finalising his backroom team and there’s a possibility that some of his former teammates could be involved. A further announcement will be made at a later date.
The new Management will have an opportunity to see much of the talent at their disposal at the Roscommon Ladies Senior, Intermediate and Junior A Finals in Knockcroghery on Saturday September 17th.
