It was a good week for Cloonfad United teams with three wins and a title!
Underage Round-up

Well done to the u12 side who clinched the division 1 title during the week after a 3-2 victory over Dunmore Town. Robert Heneghan gave us an early lead from the penalty spot and Conor Ruane hit the crossbar soon after. Despite us dominating the half Dunmore scored just before half time to level the game. We regained the lead when Luke Ruane turned in Darren Keadin’s cross but Dunmore equalised straight from the tip off. Needing to win the contest we threw everything into attack and we got our reward when Heneghan scored from a free kick.

The u14s had an excellent victory away to Strokestown. Darragh Heneghan (3) and Dylan Coleman (2) were on target.

Cloonfad United 2-1 Dunmore Town

The senior began a new season on Friday in division 1 following last seasons relegation. We hosted neighbours Dunmore Town in a very close contest. Darren O’Malley should have scored in the 2nd minute but his lob failed to clear the advancing keeper. Dunmore took the lead on 9 mins and despite our good play we had to wait until early in the second half to draw level. O’Malley raced down the right to cross for Andy Glennon to head to the net. As the game drew to close both side pushed for the winner but it was Cloonfad who got a huge slice of luck. In the 88th minute two Dunmore defenders collided and the ball broke lovely for Sean Doyle for an easy finish to claim all three points for Cloonfad.

Following Saturday’s torrential rain the B game versus Castlerea Celtic B was called off.
