Celebrity Operation Transformation starts on RTÉ One on Wednesday September 7th at 9:35pm and the parkrun at Lough Key Forest Park is set to be one of the focal points.
The three part series follows five celebrities across a month as they lead the nation on a journey to weight loss and better health.
Actor and Comedian Katherine Lynch, solicitor Gerald Kean, face of TV3’s Midday Elaine Crowley, funny man Karl Spain and Radio 1 host Brenda Donohue are all hoping to get fit and healthy in the new spin-off series. The five famous faces will try to radically change their eating and exercise habits in the hope of getting healthier and setting an example for people around the country.
Celebrity Operation Transformation will also be reigniting OT’s Million Pound Challenge, where the programme challenge the nation to lose a million pounds in weight. Each week the celebrities will be totting up the pounds they are losing and the Show will be adding the pounds their followers are shedding to the country’s overall total weight loss.
As part of their road to fitness the celebrities will complete a 5k parkrun on Saturday September 10th and the Lough Key parkrun has been chosen to host Katherine Lynch’s attempt at that distance.
What is a parkrun?
The Lough Key Parkrun is a free timed weekly 5 kilometre run/jog/walk in the beautiful surroundings of Lough Key Forest Park, just off the N4. Intending runners / walkers must register here, print their allocated Barcode and bring it with them on the morning of the run. parkruns take place every Saturday morning at 9.30am. Following the 5k run participants will receive an email with very detailed results of their run/walk.
Up to now the Lough Key parkrun has been attracting numbers of up to 150 runners/walkers ever Saturday including many “parkrun tourists” from all over Ireland. Following the Celebrity Operation Transformation announcement Saturday September 10th will be an even bigger occasion.

Anyone wishing to follow Katherine Lynch on her journey can register now on the OT website and come along to Lough Key on Saturday September 10th at 9:30am to complete a 5k walk/jog/run.
