New Ballymoe FC pitch officially opened

There was a weekend of celebration for everybody involved in Ballymoe FC and the community as a whole as our newly developed all weather football pitch was officially opened.

Saturday was a day of football with all underage teams, past players of the club and the senior team all in action. The pitch was officially blessed by Fr. Joe Poole and speeches given by Chairman Padraic Grogan, Secretary Kathleen Hegarty and by Gerry Tully, Gerry Davis and Martin Conboy. Sunday then saw the visit of FAI Chief Executive John Delaney to officially open the pitch. John praised the work carried out by everyone in Ballymoe FC to get to this stage and reiterated his commitment to supporting the club and supporting grassroots football.

Thank you

There are a lot of people the club would like to thank for their hard work over the weekend in order for everything to go to plan and ensure that everyone enjoyed the occasion. Thanks to everyone who made sandwiches and cakes, to the ladies who did the catering all day long, to Katharina, Caroline and Alan Grogan for all their help on the day, to the Civil Defence Staff, the raffle ticket sellers, to Jean Ann and Tom for providing parking at their house, to Ballymoe Development and CE workers for helping with the parking at the community centre and to the Castlerea Brass and Reed Band, to the Castlerea Celtic team who played against the senior team and to everyone that attended over the weekend and helped out in whatever way.

Finally a huge congratulations and thanks to all the people who worked tirelessly to see this development come to fruition. A lot of hard work has been carried out from the initial application for funding, the numerous fundraising activities, the work around the grounds to have everything perfect for the weekend and the organisation of the weekend. At risk of leaving someone out we will not name individual people but they know who they are and do it for their love of football in the parish and sense of achievement to better the facilities for future generations.

As part of running the club fundraising is a continuous effort and a Last Man/Woman competition will be commencing again in two weeks. Tickets can be got from any committee member or senior team player. As always your support is greatly appreciated.
