National Heritage Week takes place between the 20th and 28th of August and there will be lots of things to do in Roscommon as well as nationwide.

Keadue Development Association host an evening of entertainment entitled “Country House Dance and More”.
There are three events at Strokestown Park House. See progress of the restoration of their 17th Century Chapel, try the “Woodland Fun Trail” for Kids age 9 to 99 or experience the Early 20th Century in the Big House.
Taughmaconnell Historical and Heritage Group present “Exploring what lies beneath the Earthworks at Dundonnell Castle”
There are two talks in Roscommon town:
Roscommon County Library hosts “Aspects of Roscommon Town in 1916” and in Hannon’s Hotel Roscommon Birdwatch, in association with Birdwatch Ireland, host an evening with Niall Hatch entitled “Up with the Lark”.

There’s a Kids Heritage Hunt, organised by Roscommon County Council in Loughnaneane Park, Roscommon town.
Dr. Douglas Hyde’s contribution to modern Ireland is traced through the medium of charts, audio-visual material and more.
