National Heritage Week takes place from August 20th to 28th and there is lots of things to do in Roscommon during this time including Elphin and the surrounding areas.
All week
Elphin Windmill an eighteenth century, fully restored & working windmill, is open from 10am to 3pm. Visitors can take the tour to see how our forefathers converted wheat, barley and oats into flour.
Sunday 21st
At 2:30pm meeting at Elphin Cathedral, County Roscommon Historical & Archaeological Society host an afternoon of graveyard visits. Explore Elphin Church of Ireland Cathedral graveyard, Aughrim Church of Ireland graveyard, Rodeen medieval graveyard and Kilmore Church of Ireland graveyard. Please wear weather suitable clothing & footwear.
