Michael Fitzmaurice TD has welcomed the news that Gardai have broken up a crime gang that were behind hundreds of robberies in rural Ireland.
The Independent TD added “It is also significant that Gardai identified a farming insider, who was supplying information such as access codes to gates and locks and locations of keys etc., as a vital member of that gang. This is what I have been saying all along – that these criminals are getting information locally and that local intelligence is so important when it comes to solving crimes like these.”
Michael Fitzmaurice concluded by saying “Local Gardai stationed in rural areas were always able to pick up this kind of information and it is time that we returned to that situation.”
