A man in his 20s has become the third person to be arrested in relation to an alleged assault in Carrick-on-Shannon, which took place in the early hours of July 17th.
The man is currently being detained at Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station. So far, two people have been charged in relation to the incident. They appeared at a special sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday evening last.
The incident occurred in the early hours of July 17th when the injured party, Gerard Doolan, was in an altercation with a group of people on the footpath on the Main Street, near the junction of Bridge Street. Mr. Doolan remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.
Gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon are appealing for witnesses and in particular anyone (Taxi Drivers, Bus Drivers etc.) who may have picked up a group of people around 4am in that area of the town.
