Michael Fitzmaurice TD has re-iterated his call for funding to be allocated to the Rehab Unit at Roscommon Hospital as soon as possible.
The Independent TD commented “It is my information that the €7.8 million earmarked for this project may not be made available until 2020 and that situation is totally unacceptable. Anything can happen in four years and this looks like a project that is being put on the long finger like a lot of projects for the West of Ireland. I hope that this project was not announced for political purposes alone.”
Michael Fitzmaurice continued “It has been shown that this unit is badly needed, not only in Roscommon but as a service to patients in the West of Ireland. This project much be started as soon as possible and I am calling on our local Government and Oireachtas members to put the pressure on Minister Harris to speed up this funding so that this unit can be provided in Roscommon Hospital as soon as possible.” he concluded.
