The Lough Key parkrun, the free weekly timed 5k run or walk through Lough Key Forest Park, continues to grow in popularity with over 147 people taking part on Saturday last, July 23rd.
The Lough Key parkrun venue is attracting lots of parkrun tourists and last Saturday parkrunners from several athletic clubs and parkruns in Dublin along with two from English Clubs took part. The first man home on the day, Mark McComish, is a member of the St. Anne’s parkrun in Dublin and he finished in a time of 19:12.
Anyone wanting to take part in this friendly, inclusive, outdoor activity every Saturday morning can register their details at parkrun.ie. They will receive a barcode which they print out and use to take part in any parkrun event countrywide, and indeed worldwide. After completing their Run each registered participant receives an email with full details of their run, time, placing, age category, grading etc.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of every parkrun event and although the Lough Key parkrun has lots of very willing volunteers more are always welcome. Without the wonderful volunteers the parkrun could not exist and if you are interested in helping out please email [email protected]
Photos from the weekly run are published on the Loughkey parkrun Facebook page.
