Local Minister Denis Naughten has welcomed the allocation of capital funding today of in excess of €150,000 to childcare providers throughout County Roscommon.

The funding was announced this morning by the Minister for Children & Youth Affairs Dr Katherine Zappone who, incidentally, visited Roscommon this afternoon.

“This funding is an investment in our children and reflects the commitment to the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) pre-school scheme,” stated Minister Naughten. “Every child will now be able to access free pre-school from the age of three until they start school and this latest funding is aimed at ensuring there is capacity in childcare facilities for this to happen.

Minister Denis Naughten concluded by saying “Among those to benefit are both community/not-for-profit and private pre-school providers throughout Roscommon who will be expanding their services to cater for additional children under the scheme from September of this year.”
