Athlone Town take to the road this Friday night when they play bottom of the table Cabinteely FC in Stradbrook.
This will be a very different side than last played Cabinteely when Athlone Town secured a 3-1 home victory in late April with a maximum of 5 players remaining from that squad after a number of players left during the mid-season break.
Last weekend what was a very young team lost out by a score of 2-0 at home to Cobh Ramblers. Despite that game being their first together after just a few days of training it was a respectable performance when they put up a good fight against their more experienced opponent’s.
The clubs have only met in the league on 6 occasions since Cabinteely entered the league in 2015 with Athlone winning 2, losing 3 and the other ending in a draw. In those games a total of 18 goals have been scored at an average of 3 goals per game.
The management team of Colin Fortune and Mick Dolan have no suspensions. David Brookes, Ronan Hanaphy, Jamie Quinn and Matthew Rowden have been registered in time to join the squad. Meanwhile, defender Jack Quite has left the Club, while midfielder Val Feeney has returned to Limerick FC after his loan spell ended.
Kick off in Stradbrook is scheduled for 7.45pm.
