The Padraig Keane Memorial Race, formerly known as the ‘Lake O’Flynn’ Road Race takes place this Saturday, July 2nd at 3pm in Ballinlough.
The event has been re-named in memory of the legendary athlete who hailed from Ballinlough and ran internationally for Ireland. Padraig passed away in January this year.
Runners, walkers and joggers of all levels welcome to take part and there are two routes. The 10K Lake Loop and a 5k, and the admission fees are €20 and €15 respectively. Under 16’s can enter for just €5.
Both the 5/10k courses are Athletics Ireland Approved and you can register in advance here.
The Race will be a fundraiser for Croi – an organisation dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, particularly in the West of Ireland. Proceeds raised from the race will donated to this worthwhile cause.
The races commence close to the village and there will be parking, changing and shower facilities provided at Michael Glavey’s Community Centre.
