The Building, which was designed by ABK Architects, picked up the Best Public Building and Best Sustainable Building Awards.

This year’s RIAI Architecture Awards received 180 entries – the highest in five years – across 17 categories with 52 entries shortlisted. The Roscommon County Council Civic HQ was also nominated for the RIAI Public Choice Award. Now in its ninth year, the Award gives the public the opportunity to have their say by voting for their favourite shortlisted project. This year the Award received over 14,000 votes – the highest number of votes in the history of the scheme. This year the Award was won by “Public Space & Sculpture”, Westport, who had a majority of votes.

It is not the first time that the quality of the Roscommon County Council HQ and it’s architecture have been recognised. In April it won both Architectural Project of the Year and Sustainable Project of the Year at the CMG Irish Building & Design Awards. The awards were presented to ABK Architects and Stewart Construction.
