St Brigids 5-13, Boyle 1-9

Our Hodson Bay Hotel sponsored senior team recorded their first victory in the second game of the championship over Boyle on Friday night last in Kiltoom. In a fantastic display of football St.Brigid’s started as they meant to go on with a Jack McDonnell goal just 5 minutes into the game. This was followed up with some lovely points from Garvan Dolan and Senan Kilbride, with Senan finding the back of the net again a few minutes before half time. Darren Dolan got the second half off to a flying start with 2 great points and our third goal. And with Karol Mannion and Senan in great form there was only ever going to be one of winner.
Team: S. Mannion, R. Kelly, N. McInerney, J. Gallagher 1-0, D. Sheehy, N. Grehan, R. Fallon, G. Dolan 0-2, D. Donnelly, E. Sheehy, D. Dolan 1-2, D. Cunniffe, J. McDonnell 1-0, K. Mannion 1-3, S. Kilbride 1-6.
Subs: J. Murray, M. Nolan, J. Cunningham, C. McNiece, A. Gleeson.

St Brigids 4-5 Ballinameen 2-8

Our Junior side also recorded their first victory in their second game of the championship this weekend over Ballinameen. The game was slow to get going mainly due to the heavy rain and slippy conditions. Ballinameen registered the first score followed closely by Brigid’s first point. It was a tight game all the way through with Brigid’s going in at half time 2 points up 1-2 to 3 points. Once the rain lightened up the scores became more plentiful. Brigid’s went 5 points up in the second half only to let Ballinameen back into it with some well taken frees and points from play. Ballinameen drew level takes to a goal from a free in the last minute of normal time. It looked like the game was to end level until Kealan Byrne who came on for Joey Cunniffe blasted the ball to the back of the net in the dying minutes of injury time.
Team: G. Reynolds, K. Dolan, A. Daly, S. McBrearty, D. O’Connor, J. Curley, J. Grehan 1-0, E. Cunnane 1-0, G. Mulligan,G. Dunning 0-1, A. McInerney, E. Nolan, C. Gleeson 0-3, A. McHugh, J. Cunniffe 1-1.
Subs: E. Menton, S. Monaghan, K. Byrne 1-0.
