St Aidans 1-17 St Barrys 2-5

St Barry’s Adult Mens team were well beaten by a physically stronger St Aidans in their Intermediate Championship Round 2 game played in Tarmonbarry on Saturday. In truth, St Aidans dominated the game from start to finish, and had the better of things in most areas of the pitch. An early goal from St Aidans #13 Johnny Coyne set the tone and Aidans, aided by six further Coyne points, led by 1-12 to 0-2 at halftime. St Barrys threatened a comeback early in the second half when a red card for Aidans midfielder Thompson was quickly followed by a well worked Ronan McGowan goal. But the comeback never really materialised, as St Aidans kept a depleted St Barrys side at arms length to ease to a 9 point win, in spite of a fisted Kyle Cawley goal late on.

St Barrys: Ronan Mitchell, Shane Carrington, Aaron Murtagh, Barry Brennan, Sean Gannon, Raymond Rogers, Mark Naughton, John Murtagh, David Keenan, James Bennett Jnr(0-1), Martin Guildford, Ronan McGowan(1-1), Alan Callaghan, Finbar McGowan(0-2), Kyle Cawley(1-0).
Subs used: Diarmuid Walsh for Guildford, Colin Murtagh for Walsh Declan Cox (0-1) for McGowan, Phillip Casserly for Carrington.
