This week’s Roscommon Sport Weekend preview features possibly the widest range of sports to date, from individual to team events, indoor and outdoor!

In no particular order here it goes:

Running

The free weekly Lough Key Forest Park 5km “parkrun” continues tomorrow at 9.30am. Runners must register online in advance at www.parkrun.ie/register/ and follow the associated instruction.

Cycling

Bike Week runs from June 11th to 19th and locally, there are two events tomorrow (Saturday):
At 10am a 50km “Tour of Roscommon” begins at The Quad Youth Centre. The event is supported by Donamon Dynamos Cycling Club and admission is free.

At 6:45pm Roscommon Sports Partnership are running a free 10km Family Cycle in Roscommon town. The Cycle will start at The Quad Youth Centre and go to Mote Park.

Tour de South Roscommon also takes place tomorrow from the Clann na nGael GAA Grounds, Johnstown. Registration opens at 8am with the 120km cycle begining at 9am and the 60km route begining at 10am. Entry is €20 for Cycling Ireland Members and €25 for non Members. Proceeds in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

On Sunday Donamon Dynamos host their Annual Grand Prix, which begins in Castlecoote at 12pm. The event is part of the Cycling Ireland 2016 National Road Series and includes categories from A1 to Under 16 level. Registration is open at PJs of Castlecoote from 10am.

Soccer

There are three games in the Roscommon and District League Masters Competition. Details here.

Gaelic Games

On Sunday at 4pm Roscommon will battle it out against Sligo in the Connacht Senior Championship Semi-Final in Dr Hyde park. Read out preview here.

Ahead of that, the county Under 14 Ladies Footballers take on Tipperary in the All-Ireland B Semi-Final. Read their story so far here.

Rugby

Shane Layden features on the Irish Rugby squad for tomorrow’s first leg of the Rugby Europe Trophy event in Malmo.

Swimming

The Community Games County Swimming Finals take place in the Coral Leisure Centre, Roscommon town on Sunday.

Handball

The annual Mount Talbot One Wall Handball Tournament continues tomorrow. Full details here

Darts

The 4th Annual Elphin Open, takes place in An Bothar Rua, Elphin with the action getting under way from 1pm.
