Clann na nGael C 3-12 St Croans 1-15

Full credit this week goes to Clann for the spirited performance in the first round of the Junior B Championship in Ballyforan. This is a team that has struggled with numbers for their league matches this year, but when things looked difficult for this match the young guns pulled out all the stops. An excellent first half performance deserved a lead of 1-9 to 0-9 at half time. Some very fine performances in the first half from Martin Keena (5 points), Eoin O’ Neill (1-0), Ian Naughton, Mark Shine and Dylan Earle in the forward line and Niall Connaughton, Ray Fallon and Darragh Glynn in the back line.
St Croans opened the 2nd half with a goal to level the scores but Daniel Harney who had a solid game throughout hit the back of the net within a minute with a well taken goal. Clann followed up with another Goal from Eoin O’ Neill and points for Dylan Earle and David Griffin. St. Croans put serious pressure on the Clann back line in the later stage of this match but for some heroic defensive displays particularly Ray Fallon on goal Clann held out to win by 3 points. A super display by this fully committed side should encourage more young and experienced player to get involved. Well done Clann.

Ladies updates

The Sheraton hotel sponsored Clann na nGael senior ladies played their third league game against Western Gaels on Friday night. The game was played in near perfect conditions however Clann were caught on the hop with Gaels recording the first score on the board. However the girls soon settled into the game and began to dominate. Western Gaels were by no means an easy game Clann had to fight tooth and nail to pick off their scores. Eventually running out winners.

Best wishes

We would like to wish all our players doing their exams all the best. Don’t forget to come back when the exams are over. Also we would like to wish Ashleigh-Rose Coyle one of our senior ladies and safe trip to Uganda where she is volunteering during the summer.
