Boyle’s Frank Feighan and John O’Mahoney, based in Ballaghaderreen, are among Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s 11 nominees to Seanad Eireann, which were confirmed moments ago.

Former Roscommon-South Leitrim TD Feighan was previously elected to the Seanad in 2002 and served until 2007, when he was elected as a TD. He was re-elected in 2011 and in July 2015 announced that he would not be contesting the next General Election.

John O’Mahoney was elected to the Dáil in 2007 and lost his seat in the General Election earlier this year.

The Roscommon-Galway area will be very well represented in the Oireachtas during the current term. Dr Keith Swanick, Maura Hopkins and Terry Leydon were elected in the recent Seanad Elections and Denis Naughten, Michael Fitzmaurice and Eugene Murphy being elected in the General Election.
