Michael Fitzmaurice has welcomed the news that the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed has extended the deadline for the sowing of Wild Bird Cover, under the GLAS Scheme, by two weeks.
Speaking a short time ago he said “I have been informed today that in connection with the GLAS Scheme 1 and 2, that the deadline for the sowing of wild bird cover has been extended to the 14th June 2016. I welcome this extension and I am thankful to the Minister for a sensible response to this situation. This is a matter that I raised earlier this week by way of parliamentary question and hopefully the extended deadline will allow more farmers the time to meet the terms and conditions of the scheme”
The deadline had originally been May 31st.
