Mid-Western Girls Football League Representative Teams in action

Under 16 team played Galway on Sunday and started the game well with Aimee O’Connor coming close after 15 minutes. Galway dominated the rest of the first half and led 2-0 at the break. MWGL played some great soccer in the second half and when Sarah Scally was fouled in the penalty area, Aoife Gavin scored the resultant penalty. Aoife came close again moments later but unfortunately her shot skinned the outside of the post. Galway scored again late on to seal a 3-1 win but MWGL played well and were best served by player of the match Katie McPhillips.

The Under 14 Girls lost out to Galway despite good a good performance. Caitlin Boyle, Aisling Hanley, Madeline Bell and player of the match, goalkeeper Shannon Carter.

This Saturday the Mid-Western Girls Football League Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 teams all travel to Donegal for the annual Inishowen tournament. Best of luck to all the teams.

In Geraghty Travel Under 14 League Kilkerrin had a hard-earned win against Shiven Rovers. Grace Coneran, Caitlin Boyle, Samantha Fahy, Kate Thornton, Ciara Boyle were all on target for Kilkerrin while Rachel Farrell & Abigail Boyle replied for Shiven Rovers.

Elsewhere CP Ajax defeated Strokestown 2-0.

In the M2 Sport Under 10 League CP Ajax played Ballaghaderreen with Tula Southall and Aimee Caslin impressing for CP Ajax.

Glen Celtic played a tight, entertaining game against Kilkerrin United with Courtney Parsons & Hannah Morrissey both on target.
