A stretch of the N61, between the N5 junction at Tulsk Cross and the R368 Strokestown Road at Fourmilehouse, will be closed by Roscommon County Council next week to facilitate surveying works.
The work is scheduled to take place from Monday to Friday ahead of an application by the Council to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for permission to carry out major works on dangerous bends.
The intention is to divert traffic via Strokestown during this time and the following route will be in use:
Southbound traffic: On reaching Tulsk Cross turn left onto the N5 to Strokestown. In Strokestown take the R368 and at its conclusion in Fourmilehouse turn left onto the N61.
Northbound traffic will travel via the reverse route.
Motorists are advised that the diversion could add at least 15 minutes to their journey times.
