Enda Kenny was returned as Taoiseach a short time ago 59-49.
Fianna Fáil and a number of Independent TDs, including Michael Fitzmaurice, abstained from the vote.
The Dáil sitting will resume at 5:30pm at which time it is expected that the Ministerial appointments will be made. It has been rumoured that Denis Naughten could be set for a role.
